Copycat Kenley?

Michael Kors thought that Kenley's dress looked a little too much like a recent dress from Alexander McQueen's Fall 2008 collection.

Project Runway Finale Part 1!

Surprise! Another challenge! Before sending the designers off to create their lines, Heidi tells them that they'll have to include a wedding dress in their collection. This dress would decide who was going to Bryant Park and who was going home.
When the designers had returned to New York after Tim's visit, they were given yet another challenge. They had to create another dress- a bridesmaid dress to accompany their wedding dress.

Let's check out the runway!

Top 2: Leanne and Kenley
Bottom 2: Korto and Jerell
Eliminated: Jerell

Leanne

Wow. Gorgeous. Leanne's wedding dress was absolutely impeccable. It was so light and flowy- it was very Leanne.
Her bridesmaid dress was cute too. It definitely fit in with the wedding dress. Great job, Leanne! (P.S. Karalyn is back! Gasp! I'm guessing that there were some uncomfortable moments behind the scenes!)

Kenley

Kenley did a pretty good job this week. Although it was somewhat of an Alexander McQueen knockoff, honestly, I liked it.
The bridesmaid dress didn't have anything to do with the wedding dress. I mean, it was cute, but I didn't think that it was "the cutest dress i've ever seen."

Korto

This was not Korto's best work. At all. First, let's talk about her wedding dress. Frankly, this was butt- ugly. The dress adds about 40 pounds to her model, and there's waaaaaay too much going on. All the crap that's stuck on it only adds to the bulk.
Her bridesmaids dress is also questionable. It doesn't look like something you'd wear to a wedding. But at least it's cute.

Jerell

Ack! What was Jerell thinking? Jerell's concept (which is made clear by his horrendous Bryant Park collection) is to throw lots of crap together and hope it works. And if it looks bad, add more crap. Flowers, encrusted bodice, asymetry, huge volume and dirty tulle? That's quite a lot on a wedding dress.
His bridesmaid dress was no better. That fabric was absolutely disgusting. It showed every pucker and wrinkle. Uck! It just wasn't pretty at all. Auf Wiedersehen, Jerell!

Be sure to watch the finale next week!

Project Runway Week 12!

It's week 12- the final challenge!
In true Project Runway style, the designers bombed their final challenge before Bryant Park. Also in Project Runway style, 4 designers are creating collections for Fashion Week! However, only three will make it there. All four designers are up for elimination. Da da da da!
This week, the designers headed off to the New York Botanical Gardens where they took pictures of plants and flowers. Then they each chose a photograph to serve as the inspiration for their garment.
In the workroom, Jerell, Korto and Leanne avoid Kenley as much as possible, and Kenley does the same. It's Kenley against everyone.
Also, Kenley leaves her tulle at Mood. The other designers have plenty that they can offer her, but they choose not to. Kenley tells Tim of her tulle situation and, here's the strange part, Tim tells her that she can go back to mood to retrieve her missing tulle. This seems strange to me. I didn't think that they would let someone go back to Mood under any circumstances. Hmmmm. Curious.

Now on to the runway!

Winner: Jerell
Eliminated: None
Top 2: Jerell, Leanne
Bottom 2: Korto, Kenley

Kenley should've been eliminated for her attitude alone. Michael made a very good point while the judges were deliberating.
"Imagine her response if a buyer says 'Well, I don't like that sleeve.' What does she do, take a knife out and kill them?"
Michael is completely right. She needs to learn to be polite and respectful if she wants to be a successful designer. Kenley absolutely cannot accept criticism. Okay, this joke has gone on long enough. Kenley needs to go home.

I'm going to review all the dresses this time.

1.Leanne 2.Korto 3.Kenley 4.Jerell

1. Leanne's dress was my favorite. It had sort of an ethereal, Grecian vibe to it that I thought was really beautiful. The ruffles were also really cool. I definitely thought that she should've won!
2. Korto's was a little prom- esque, but still really pretty. I would've liked to see a more vibrant color, though.
3. Kenley's dress was pretty stupid. First of all, she was somehow inspired by fish (the print and scales) which had nothing to do with the theme of this challenge. The scales were ridiculous. I couldn't see anyone wearing a dress with fish scales on the bottom. Not sophisticated at all. And yet again, she flipped out on the judges for giving her criticism. I'm really over Kenley.
4. Am I the only one who hated Jerell's dress? Let's see... it doesn't fit well, it's boring, it's wrinkly, it's sad, it's messy, it's unfinished... and those colors together were vomitous. I still can't believe that he won.

Wow! Can you believe it? Next week is the first part of the finale!!!! I can't wait! I really hope that Leanne or Korto takes it. They deserve it!

Project Runway Week 11!

Another not- so- great challenge! Admittedly, this is not the best of seasons. However, at this stage of the game, I would think that almost everyone could produce at least acceptable work. That's questionable for this season.
Well, anyways, there was some serious model drama that went down this week. They had to boot 3 models, and they let everyone re-pick! OHHHHH!!!
To everyone's shock, Leanne gave up her beloved Karalyn for Suede's Tia! (Bad move, Karalyn was fabulous) Needless to say, Suede was just a tad upset, and decided to go with Xaviera. Kenley traded in Germaine for Topacio. Jerell and Korto both stuck with their models.

Okay, so here's the new model listings:
Leanne: Tia
Suede: Xaviera
Kenley: Topacio
Jerell: Nicole
Korto: Katrina

I have to admit, I was a little surprised that Leanne switched a model that she had loyally stuck with from the beginning. Only one challenge before Bryant Park! Kenley switched too, but that's more understandable because Germaine was forced upon her when Shannone dropped out.
After Heidi kissed the models goodbye and Karalyn cried herself off the runway, Heidi told everyone to head back to the workroom to find out their challenge.
In the workroom, Tim tells the designers that they will be designing for... each other! This has only happened once before in Project Runway history- way back in season 2! Their looks for each other will be inspired by different genres of music. (Pop, Punk, Rock and Roll, Country, Hip- Hop)
Tim drew names from the bag to determine who was designing for who and what their genre would be.

Leanne: Hip- Hop, Designing for Korto
Suede: Punk, Designing for Jerell
Kenley: Pop, Designing for Leanne
Jerell: Rock and Roll, Designing for Kenley
Korto: Country, Designing for Suede

Tim thinks that this will be the most "unique" show that Project Runway has ever seen. He could be right. There was some serious "unique" walking down that runway.

Speaking of runway...

Top Two: Korto, Jerell
Bottom Two: Kenley, Suede
Winner: Korto
Eliminated: Suede

My Favorite:
1. Korto
Korto gets her second win! Suede's style was punk, and she nearly nailed it! The only critique I have is about the black strips on the shirt. Didn't like those. However, I love the chains. And the bleached jeans are cool, too. Congrats, Korto!

My Least Favorite:
1. Suede
FINALLY! SUEDE IS OUT! What can we say about this one? Not very rock and roll. Vest? Ugly. Shirt? Ugly. Pants? Eh. And not that it matters, but Suede's runway walk was awful! Auf Wiedersehen, Suede!

P.S. And just for the record, Suede, I absolutely despised your dress that won you the second challenge!!!

AAAACKKKK! Awful! Horrible mummified ballerina barbie doll!

Project Runway Week 10!

Week 10 already!!! I have to say, this week was not the most exciting of all challenges, but it gave the designers an opportunity to create clothes for real people. With the exception of a few people (*ahem* Suede and Joe) most of the designers created good work.
This week's challenge was to create clothes for graduating college students. There were basically no other guidelines for this challenge, it all depended on what each client wanted. Some already had jobs, while others needed something to wear while going on interviews and such.

Now on to the runway!

Top Three: Jerell, Kenley, Korto
Bottom Three: Leanne, Suede, Joe
Winner: Jerell
Eliminated: Joe

My Favorites:
1.Korto 2.Jerell
Korto's garment was adorable. The jacket was so hip and modern. I loved the black piping. The dress was amazing too, and it was perfect for her client. I thought Korto should've won!
Jerell was the winner! His garment was cute, too. It didn't have as much personality as Korto's, but it seemed to suit his client very well. Congrats on your back- to- back wins, Jerell!

My Least Favorites:
1.Suede 2.Joe
Blah! Suede's garment looked so cheap! It was just bad. Bad bad bad bad. Bad Suede.
I definitely hate Suede and will rejoice when he's gone, but surprisingly, I agreed with the judges this week. I thought that Joe's garment was worse than Suede's. The whole look was wrong. It was totally boring and had no personality. The shirt looked messy, and it didn't fit well. Ick! Everything about this is wrong! Auf Wiedersehen, Joe!

Project Runway at Fashion Week!!!

Today, the remaining designers showed their collections at Bryant Park!!!
There are still three eliminations that have yet to air, so Bravo allowed 6 designers to show at Fashion Week. (They do this so that viewers don't know who the final 3 are until the final episodes air.)
I won't review any of the collections until the finale airs, because I don't want to spoil it for people who want to wait. However I will tell you that my favorite collection is Korto's, and my least favorite is Suede's.

If you do want to see the collections, click on the links below.

Project Runway Week 9!

Are the designers running out of steam? The work produced in this week's challenge was- how shall we say? Not good.
This episode was jam- packed. Eliminated designers, avant- garde, parties, past contestants and DOUBLE ELIMINATION!!! That's right! Two people are going home this week!
Heidi appeared on the runway wearing a simple black dress and tight black pants. Is it just me, or has Heidi been wearing A LOT of black this season?
Before announcing the challenge, Heidi brought out some special guests. Guess who it was! The eliminated designers! Thankfully, none of them had the opportunity to get back in the competition. They were just there to help the remaining designers with their garments.
The designers were lead back to the workroom, where Tim was waiting. He informed them that the challenge was to create an avant- garde* outfit inspired by either their own or their partner's astrological sign. Tim assigned the partners by pulling names out of a bag.

*Avant- Garde Definition:
A group or work that is innovative or inventive on one or more levels: subject, medium, technique, style, or relationship to context. (In other words, an over- the- top outfit)

Oh, and later in the episode, the designers went to a party to showcase their designs to the judges and previous PR contestants (Including Jay McCarrol, Daniel Vosovic and Christian Siriano!!!). At the end of the party, the previous contestants voted for their favorite garment. The garment with the most votes was the winner.

Now, on to the runway!

Top Four: Korto, Leanne, Joe and Jerrel
Bottom Four: Kenley, Suede, Terri and Blayne
Winner: Jerrel
Eliminated: Terri and Blayne

My Favorites:
1.Joe 2.Leanne 3.Jerrel

Joe's garment was most avant-garde out of all of them. It was chic, it had volume- and although it wasn't perfect, it was definitely the best.
Leanne's garment was nice, but a little strange. I could definitely see the inspiration of scorpio, but I didn't understand the black piece over the dress. What was that?
Jerrel was this week's winner. The skirt was nice, but the outfit wasn't over- the- top enough.

My Least Favorites:
1.Kenley 2.Terri 3.Suede

Kenley created floral skirt and a purple plaid top with a patent leather bustier. The strange part? I think you can see it yourself. The shoulders were HUMONGOUS. I could see her attempt to be avant- garde, but the look turned out to be more ridiculous than high- fashion.
Terri was eliminated, (along with Blayne.) Her dress looked cheap, and the sleeves were just horrible.
Suede's outfit was the worst. It was awful. It looked messy and poorly made. Nothing about it said avant- garde, either.

Blayne is out!
Admittedly, his outfit was a little crazy. The neon ruffles were just too much. They started at her shoulder and went all the way down the side and wove through her leg. However, I appreciate that he took a risk and attempted to make an avant- garde outfit. We'll miss you, Blayne- licious!

Auf weidersehen, Blayne and Terri!

Project Runway Week 8!

Da da da da! Project Runway Week 8!
The designers are lead by Tim Gunn through what Stella calls the meat- packing district(?) to meet a so-called "fashion legend." As the designers speculate who they think it is, Blayne wishes that it was Mary-Kate Olsen.
The designers enter a showroom where they meet...... the fabulous Diane Von Furstenberg!!! WOW! Diane greets the designers, who are all very excited to meet her. Kenley is very emotional because she loves Diane and admires her.
Diane announces the challenge, which is to create an outfit for her fall collection, which is inspired by the movie "A Foreign Affair." And to top it off- the winning dress will be exclusively sold to American Express Cardmembers!
Tim and the designers head off to Diane's sample room where they have 15 minutes to get fabric. After that, they're off to Parson's to work on their designs!

Now, on to the runway!

Top Three: Kenley, Korto, and Leanne
Bottom Three: Suede, Joe, and Stella
Winner: Leanne
Eliminated: Stella

My Favorites:
1. Terri 2.Korto 3.Leanne

My hands- down favorite was Terri. Wow!!! I know she gets ripped for always doing pants, but these were beautiful! The trench, blouse and pants were a beautiful combo together. I was surprised that Terri wasn't in the top 3!
Korto's dress was very pretty. I loved the yellow peeking out underneath the dress. The jacket was nice too.
Leanne was the winner. Her dress was gorgeous, but I didn't care much for the jacket. It didn't match the dress.

My Least Favorites:
1.Kenley 2.Joe 3. Suede

Kenley's dress wasn't horrible, it was just boring. She should've done another piece. The other designers did jackets and pants in the same amout of time.
Joe's was pretty bad. It looked cheap and costumey. The shiny fabric didn't work at all.
Suede's was just awful. I hated it. The dress was boring, and that jacket-thing looked so cheap and thrown- together. I really thought he should've gone this week.

Stella was eliminated! I was a little shocked.
Stella designed a plaid trouser and vest along with a cape that looked like- you guessed it- leatha. Although it wasn't perfect, it wasn't as bad as the judges made it out to be. It was chicer than most of the stuff that she's designed before, and it wasn't half as bad as Suede's hot mess.
Auf weidersehen, Stella!

How to Wear: A Leather Jacket

.

Wouldn't you love to rock a cool leather jacket without looking like a biker- chick? It's not as impossible as it sounds! All you need are some classic pieces.
  • Sexy tan boots are the most important part of the look. They add color to grayish tones of the rest of the outfit. Stunning heels give the outfit a girly edge. If you're not exactly ready to work 4- inch heels, flat boots still look great. Just make sure they aren't hiking boots!
  • You'll also need some fah-bu-lous jeans. Either skinny or wide-leg, depending if you want to wear the boots over or under your jeans. I prefer boots over the jeans, but that's just me.
  • Under the jacket, wear a cami (not a lacy one!) or tank. As for color, I personally love the touch of grey in the outfit, but you could also do a bright color tank if you prefer.
  • Last, but certainly not least is your amazing leather jacket. Pick one that's classic- which means no studs or spikes. If you like more modern, fashion- forward stuff, choose a jacket with side zippers or buttons.

Rock this look with confidence!

Fall Fashion Trends

These cool new Fall trends are dominating the runways and the streets. Stay in style this season!

"Cocoon Coats"
.
Otherwise known as a big, baggy coat. They are appearing on all the top runways this fall. Cocoon Coats are great for people who don't have a stick- thin figure.

Plaid
.
This trend seems simple, but all those plaid pieces that were considered "appropriate to wear on the farm," are coming back this fall! Anything from mini-dresses to jackets look adorable in plaid.
.
Purple
.
From lavender to deep plum, purple is the hot color this fall. Whether you choose to wear an all- purple ensemble or just add hints of it in your outfit, you'll look oh- so stylish in this amazing color.
.
Don't you just love fall?

Project Runway Week 7!

Week 7- The contestants had to make a garment out of materials from those Saturn Hybrid Cars, (which are made out of 85% recyclable materials.) The whole thing was kind of strange. The designers found themselves on the rooftop of some building with several shiny new Saturns. At first, I thought that the designers would have to disassemble the cars! But I suppose that would've been too dangerous. Ha! Anyway, instead of taking apart the cars, all the crap that they make the cars out of was STUFFED INSIDE THE SATURNS! It was pretty wierd- reaching in the front seat to get seat covers and headlights and such. After collecting their materials, the designers headed back to Parsons.
In the beginning, people were breaking apart headlights and smashing mirrors. But no one really used that stuff. They all opted for seat covers and seat belts. I thought they could be a wee bit more creative, but I suppose it's better than using a tablecloth.
Kenley's model- Shannon, dropped out of the competition, just like Keith's model, Runa did in episode 3! What's going on with these models???
Speaking of that, Keith had some trouble with his current model, Alyssa. Keith created a poorly- sewn, ugly brown skirt that he instructed his model not to sit down in. However, while getting hair and make-up done, Alyssa was "forced" to sit down. Sure enough, the skirt ripped. Keith was incredibly angry and blamed his model. But truthfully, it was his own fault that he created a garment that was so poorly sewn that it ripped when you sat down.
Now on to the runway!

My Favorites:
1. Leanne 2. Jerrel 3. Korto

Leanne was the winner. Thank god! Her dress was absolutley amazing. It looked so freakin' couture that you would have never guessd in a million years that it came from a car. Great job, Leanne!
Jerrel and Korto were also in the top 3. Jerell's outfit was very cool. It was super futuristic, although it reminded me of a tribal warrior or something. I liked it, though.
Korto wove seatbelts to use for fabric. The coat was a great idea, but the fit could have been a lot better. The sleeves didn't look so great! If she had just perfected it a little, that coat would have been truly amazing!

My Least Favorites:
1. Blayne 2. Stella 3. Keith

Blayne Stella and Keith were the bottom 3. I agree.
I could see Blayne's attempt, but he didn't pull it off. The fit on top was horrible.
Stella's outfit was pretty wierd. It looked like two completley different garments. On top was some tough, biker- looking thing, and on the bottom was a shiny, girly little A-line skirt. I'm not totally convinced that Stella can do anything other than Leatha.
Keith is out! He presented a boring, ripped garment that his model could not sit down in. He definitely deserved to go. His cocky attitude did not match his poor work. Auf Wiedersehen, Keith!

Check back next week for a recap on the new episode!

The Modern LBD!

Enough with the tired old LBD (little black dress)! These darling designer dresses take a modern spin on the classic cocktail ensemble.

#3: Marc Jacobs
If drama is not exactly your thing, consider a toned- down LBD that looks amazingly chic. The gorgeous neckline is flattering on almost everyone. Ahhhhh. So lovely!

#2: Marchesa
If you've got a flair for couture, add some crisp white to you LBD! The white ruffles on this GORGEOUS Marchesa dress scream avant- garde sophistication!

#1: Balenciaga
I just might die. This is probably the most perfect LBD I have ever seen. It's avant- garde while still being wearable, and it's modern while still being classic. The details make it truly beautiful and unique. WOW.

Which is your favorite LBD?

Project Runway Week 6!

Wow! The 6th challenge already? Where have the weeks gone? Anyways, this challenge was nothing short of amazing- designing for DRAG QUEENS! I was worried about some of the designers, especially those who had very "sophisticated" tastes. But surprisingly, most of the designers did very well on this challenge. I was impressed! The most successful designers stepped outside of their comfort zone and just had fun with it.

My Favorites:
1. Joe 2.Terri 3.Blayne.

Joe was the winner. I really loved his hot-pink jumpsuit, and it suited his queen perfectly.
Terri was also in the top 3. Her outfit was completely outrageous- perfect for a drag queen.
Blayne wasn't in the top or bottom, but his garment was very cool. The bright blue and pink looked great with the black piping. However, when Blayne's model came out on the runway, one of the "wings" was drooping! Other than that, the look was a success.

My Least Favorites:
1.Jerell 2.Keith 3.Daniel

Jerell, Keith and Daniel were all in the bottom 3. No surprise there!
Jerell's garment was just plain weird. The colors did not work on his model- nor did the shape. The odd proportions and length made her body look strange.
I thought Keith's design was a hot mess. Ruffles sewn to a bra- top and metallic panties? Not a good look. I agreed with Michael Kors' reference to a rooster.
I really like Daniel. But his outfit- it wasn't drag at all. The tie- dye fabric did not work on that dress, and the whole look was too bland for a drag queen. Perhaps in a different color and with some flashy touches, the dress could at least have been enough to carry him to the next challenge. However, in the end, Daniel was auf'd. We'll miss you, Daniel!

Check back next week for a recap on the new episode!

But wait.....

There's more!!!
On a juicer note, there was something "interesting" taking place behind the scenes of Project Runway! In fact, a Runway first! A ROMANCE between two designers!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!! If you haven't already heard, the lucky couple is...

Daniel and Wesley!!!

I know what you're thinking- AWWWWWW!!!! They're so absolutely adorable together!
Although there was a small blurb on Bravo TV.com revealing the dating designers, the relationship was all a secret- until the after show!
On Bravo's After the Sew special- (a live video blog that takes place directly after Project Runway ends each week) Daniel Feld- the latest eliminated contestant, was joined by boyfriend Wesley Nault (eliminated in episode 2) and a famous drag queen by the name of "Lady Bunny."
Daniel and Wesley held hands throughout the entire show, and were asked about their new found love. Although they could barely get a word in without being interrupted by "Bunny," you could just feel their love for each other.
Luckily, the host of the show kept them both for another few minutes of vlogging- bunny free.
The couple revealed that they fell in love on June 8th, the first day of PR production. When asked what they liked most about each other, both answered that the other was very considerate of others. Daniel said that he was "lucky to find such a sweetie," and gave Wesley an absolutely adorable kiss on the cheek.

See it for yourself on BravoTV.com!
.
Daniel and Wesley, I wish you all the best!

Disaster of the Day: Mary- Kate Olsen

Fashion Faux- Pas: Mary- Kate Olsen

Talk about a disaster! Is Mary- Kate running to the store or running away from home? That baggy tee shirt goes perfectly with her stange shoes. And the black sweatshirt tied around her waist completes the grunge look.

Fashion Favorite: Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy looks sexy and stunning in an adorable black dress and strappy shoes. Talk about simple- chic! The whole look is gorgeous!
