Project Runway Week 11!

Another not- so- great challenge! Admittedly, this is not the best of seasons. However, at this stage of the game, I would think that almost everyone could produce at least acceptable work. That's questionable for this season.
Well, anyways, there was some serious model drama that went down this week. They had to boot 3 models, and they let everyone re-pick! OHHHHH!!!
To everyone's shock, Leanne gave up her beloved Karalyn for Suede's Tia! (Bad move, Karalyn was fabulous) Needless to say, Suede was just a tad upset, and decided to go with Xaviera. Kenley traded in Germaine for Topacio. Jerell and Korto both stuck with their models.

Okay, so here's the new model listings:
Leanne: Tia
Suede: Xaviera
Kenley: Topacio
Jerell: Nicole
Korto: Katrina

I have to admit, I was a little surprised that Leanne switched a model that she had loyally stuck with from the beginning. Only one challenge before Bryant Park! Kenley switched too, but that's more understandable because Germaine was forced upon her when Shannone dropped out.
After Heidi kissed the models goodbye and Karalyn cried herself off the runway, Heidi told everyone to head back to the workroom to find out their challenge.
In the workroom, Tim tells the designers that they will be designing for... each other! This has only happened once before in Project Runway history- way back in season 2! Their looks for each other will be inspired by different genres of music. (Pop, Punk, Rock and Roll, Country, Hip- Hop)
Tim drew names from the bag to determine who was designing for who and what their genre would be.

Leanne: Hip- Hop, Designing for Korto
Suede: Punk, Designing for Jerell
Kenley: Pop, Designing for Leanne
Jerell: Rock and Roll, Designing for Kenley
Korto: Country, Designing for Suede

Tim thinks that this will be the most "unique" show that Project Runway has ever seen. He could be right. There was some serious "unique" walking down that runway.

Speaking of runway...

Top Two: Korto, Jerell
Bottom Two: Kenley, Suede
Winner: Korto
Eliminated: Suede

My Favorite:
1. Korto
Korto gets her second win! Suede's style was punk, and she nearly nailed it! The only critique I have is about the black strips on the shirt. Didn't like those. However, I love the chains. And the bleached jeans are cool, too. Congrats, Korto!

My Least Favorite:
1. Suede
FINALLY! SUEDE IS OUT! What can we say about this one? Not very rock and roll. Vest? Ugly. Shirt? Ugly. Pants? Eh. And not that it matters, but Suede's runway walk was awful! Auf Wiedersehen, Suede!

P.S. And just for the record, Suede, I absolutely despised your dress that won you the second challenge!!!

AAAACKKKK! Awful! Horrible mummified ballerina barbie doll!

Project Runway Week 10!

Week 10 already!!! I have to say, this week was not the most exciting of all challenges, but it gave the designers an opportunity to create clothes for real people. With the exception of a few people (*ahem* Suede and Joe) most of the designers created good work.
This week's challenge was to create clothes for graduating college students. There were basically no other guidelines for this challenge, it all depended on what each client wanted. Some already had jobs, while others needed something to wear while going on interviews and such.

Now on to the runway!

Top Three: Jerell, Kenley, Korto
Bottom Three: Leanne, Suede, Joe
Winner: Jerell
Eliminated: Joe

My Favorites:
1.Korto 2.Jerell
Korto's garment was adorable. The jacket was so hip and modern. I loved the black piping. The dress was amazing too, and it was perfect for her client. I thought Korto should've won!
Jerell was the winner! His garment was cute, too. It didn't have as much personality as Korto's, but it seemed to suit his client very well. Congrats on your back- to- back wins, Jerell!

My Least Favorites:
1.Suede 2.Joe
Blah! Suede's garment looked so cheap! It was just bad. Bad bad bad bad. Bad Suede.
I definitely hate Suede and will rejoice when he's gone, but surprisingly, I agreed with the judges this week. I thought that Joe's garment was worse than Suede's. The whole look was wrong. It was totally boring and had no personality. The shirt looked messy, and it didn't fit well. Ick! Everything about this is wrong! Auf Wiedersehen, Joe!

Project Runway at Fashion Week!!!

Today, the remaining designers showed their collections at Bryant Park!!!
There are still three eliminations that have yet to air, so Bravo allowed 6 designers to show at Fashion Week. (They do this so that viewers don't know who the final 3 are until the final episodes air.)
I won't review any of the collections until the finale airs, because I don't want to spoil it for people who want to wait. However I will tell you that my favorite collection is Korto's, and my least favorite is Suede's.

If you do want to see the collections, click on the links below.

Project Runway Week 9!

Are the designers running out of steam? The work produced in this week's challenge was- how shall we say? Not good.
This episode was jam- packed. Eliminated designers, avant- garde, parties, past contestants and DOUBLE ELIMINATION!!! That's right! Two people are going home this week!
Heidi appeared on the runway wearing a simple black dress and tight black pants. Is it just me, or has Heidi been wearing A LOT of black this season?
Before announcing the challenge, Heidi brought out some special guests. Guess who it was! The eliminated designers! Thankfully, none of them had the opportunity to get back in the competition. They were just there to help the remaining designers with their garments.
The designers were lead back to the workroom, where Tim was waiting. He informed them that the challenge was to create an avant- garde* outfit inspired by either their own or their partner's astrological sign. Tim assigned the partners by pulling names out of a bag.

*Avant- Garde Definition:
A group or work that is innovative or inventive on one or more levels: subject, medium, technique, style, or relationship to context. (In other words, an over- the- top outfit)

Oh, and later in the episode, the designers went to a party to showcase their designs to the judges and previous PR contestants (Including Jay McCarrol, Daniel Vosovic and Christian Siriano!!!). At the end of the party, the previous contestants voted for their favorite garment. The garment with the most votes was the winner.

Now, on to the runway!

Top Four: Korto, Leanne, Joe and Jerrel
Bottom Four: Kenley, Suede, Terri and Blayne
Winner: Jerrel
Eliminated: Terri and Blayne

My Favorites:
1.Joe 2.Leanne 3.Jerrel

Joe's garment was most avant-garde out of all of them. It was chic, it had volume- and although it wasn't perfect, it was definitely the best.
Leanne's garment was nice, but a little strange. I could definitely see the inspiration of scorpio, but I didn't understand the black piece over the dress. What was that?
Jerrel was this week's winner. The skirt was nice, but the outfit wasn't over- the- top enough.

My Least Favorites:
1.Kenley 2.Terri 3.Suede

Kenley created floral skirt and a purple plaid top with a patent leather bustier. The strange part? I think you can see it yourself. The shoulders were HUMONGOUS. I could see her attempt to be avant- garde, but the look turned out to be more ridiculous than high- fashion.
Terri was eliminated, (along with Blayne.) Her dress looked cheap, and the sleeves were just horrible.
Suede's outfit was the worst. It was awful. It looked messy and poorly made. Nothing about it said avant- garde, either.

Blayne is out!
Admittedly, his outfit was a little crazy. The neon ruffles were just too much. They started at her shoulder and went all the way down the side and wove through her leg. However, I appreciate that he took a risk and attempted to make an avant- garde outfit. We'll miss you, Blayne- licious!

Auf weidersehen, Blayne and Terri!

Project Runway Week 8!

Da da da da! Project Runway Week 8!
The designers are lead by Tim Gunn through what Stella calls the meat- packing district(?) to meet a so-called "fashion legend." As the designers speculate who they think it is, Blayne wishes that it was Mary-Kate Olsen.
The designers enter a showroom where they meet...... the fabulous Diane Von Furstenberg!!! WOW! Diane greets the designers, who are all very excited to meet her. Kenley is very emotional because she loves Diane and admires her.
Diane announces the challenge, which is to create an outfit for her fall collection, which is inspired by the movie "A Foreign Affair." And to top it off- the winning dress will be exclusively sold to American Express Cardmembers!
Tim and the designers head off to Diane's sample room where they have 15 minutes to get fabric. After that, they're off to Parson's to work on their designs!

Now, on to the runway!

Top Three: Kenley, Korto, and Leanne
Bottom Three: Suede, Joe, and Stella
Winner: Leanne
Eliminated: Stella

My Favorites:
1. Terri 2.Korto 3.Leanne

My hands- down favorite was Terri. Wow!!! I know she gets ripped for always doing pants, but these were beautiful! The trench, blouse and pants were a beautiful combo together. I was surprised that Terri wasn't in the top 3!
Korto's dress was very pretty. I loved the yellow peeking out underneath the dress. The jacket was nice too.
Leanne was the winner. Her dress was gorgeous, but I didn't care much for the jacket. It didn't match the dress.

My Least Favorites:
1.Kenley 2.Joe 3. Suede

Kenley's dress wasn't horrible, it was just boring. She should've done another piece. The other designers did jackets and pants in the same amout of time.
Joe's was pretty bad. It looked cheap and costumey. The shiny fabric didn't work at all.
Suede's was just awful. I hated it. The dress was boring, and that jacket-thing looked so cheap and thrown- together. I really thought he should've gone this week.

Stella was eliminated! I was a little shocked.
Stella designed a plaid trouser and vest along with a cape that looked like- you guessed it- leatha. Although it wasn't perfect, it wasn't as bad as the judges made it out to be. It was chicer than most of the stuff that she's designed before, and it wasn't half as bad as Suede's hot mess.
Auf weidersehen, Stella!

How to Wear: A Leather Jacket

.

Wouldn't you love to rock a cool leather jacket without looking like a biker- chick? It's not as impossible as it sounds! All you need are some classic pieces.
  • Sexy tan boots are the most important part of the look. They add color to grayish tones of the rest of the outfit. Stunning heels give the outfit a girly edge. If you're not exactly ready to work 4- inch heels, flat boots still look great. Just make sure they aren't hiking boots!
  • You'll also need some fah-bu-lous jeans. Either skinny or wide-leg, depending if you want to wear the boots over or under your jeans. I prefer boots over the jeans, but that's just me.
  • Under the jacket, wear a cami (not a lacy one!) or tank. As for color, I personally love the touch of grey in the outfit, but you could also do a bright color tank if you prefer.
  • Last, but certainly not least is your amazing leather jacket. Pick one that's classic- which means no studs or spikes. If you like more modern, fashion- forward stuff, choose a jacket with side zippers or buttons.

Rock this look with confidence!
